Abstract:
This chapter presents the characteristics of the solutions that belong to the category of Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs), analyzing their properties. Emphasis is placed on the similarities and differences that exist between the characteristics of all solutions belonging to this category and those of blockchain technology, which is also part of the category. Furthermore, as an example, a typical DLT solution, the IOTA network, is analyzed to present an example network that is promising and emerging. Finally, use-case scenarios are presented that can be served by solutions characterized as DLTs.
