Abstract:
The pathogenesis of Type 1 Diabetes results from autoimmune destruction of pancreatic β-cells, while in the pathogenesis of Type 2 Diabetes, insulin resistance and reduced insulin secretion from β-cells contribute in a synergistic role. A complex interplay of environmental, genetic and immunological factors also contribute to both pathogenesis and vary from person to person.
