Description:
Abstract:
Introductory textbook on pediatric cardiology, from fetal life to adolescence. Diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of congenital and acquired heart disease in children, with particular emphasis on the acquisition of basic clinical skills (adequate cardiac auscultation, evaluation of pediatric electrocardiograms, correct identification and referral of children with suspected heart disease) for future doctors who will contribute to the early diagnosis and proper management of children with heart disease, as well as to early prenatal diagnosis and counseling. The aim is to provide basic introductory knowledge of pediatric cardiology, both for students taking the specialized course in the undergraduate program and as a necessary supplement to the undergraduate courses in pediatrics and cardiology. At the same time, its content is complementary as a source of information in the field of Obstetrics and Genetics (prenatal cardiology, congenital anomalies), as well as Sports Medicine and Physical Education (guidelines for cardiac screening of children who participate in sports). As a freely accessible electronic textbook, it is particularly useful for a wide range of health professionals (pediatricians, cardiologists, obstetricians, geneticists, etc.), as well as educators (e.g., physical education teachers). Form and content. The e-book makes the most of the advantages of an e-book, like extensive use of multimedia files (video files of echocardiograms, audio files of digital recordings), references to authoritative sources of additional bibliography, and presentations (PowerPoint presentations) from the courses of the main author and co-authors. As the main author has extensive experience in the use of multimedia in education, and the co-authors are all academic teachers of the subject in our country, we aspire to write an exemplary e-book.
