Description:
Abstract:
The text explores the parallel development of art and architecture from 1945 to the present day. The goal is to develop ways of searching, not a narrative of events. Rather than following a chronological narrative, it presents thematic frameworks that enhance interdisciplinary research. The emphasis is on how art and architecture have responded to post-war political, social, economic and technological transformations. While architecture addressed practical needs such as housing and infrastructure, art focused on cultural and psychological renewal. It examines the transition from modernism, which focused on progress and rationality, to postmodernism, which emphasized pluralism, historical reconsideration, and criticism of the principles of modernism. The thematic area is structured in the following sections: references to the post-war period and the first attempts to escape from Modernism, the presentation and commentary on the new institutions for the promotion of art and architecture, the interdisciplinary connections of architecture and art with other disciplines, the commentary on key texts published from 1950 onwards and which changed the course of architecture and art, demonstrating not only the restructuring of goals but also the impasses that appeared at the end of the 20th century, the development of key concepts for art and architecture that characterize the period. By organizing the topics separately and in parallel, the book enables readers to examine art and architecture independently or in conjunction, gaining a broader understanding of their shared evolution. Through key examples and theoretical texts, their evolving role in shaping contemporary thought and cultural discourse is highlighted.
