This chapter concerns the way we describe the motion of a point particle. It discusses the basic quantities needed –position, velocity, acceleration– and their representations in various coordinate systems (Cartesian, polar, cylindrical, spherical), as well as in the system of unit vectors that follow the trajectory (tangential and perpendicular to it).
