Abstract: |
Dynamical systems in which their dynamical variables change so that it is meaningless to continuously measure their change (e.g., the fish population of a lake) are called discrete-time dynamical systems and are described mathematically with maps. In this chapter, we present the discrete dynamical systems. In the first section, we present the general properties of maps. In the second section, we study one-dimensional dynamical systems. Then, we offer systems with larger dimensions, while the chapter concludes with symbolic dynamics.
