Description:
Abstract:
In this chapter we discuss the uses of mobile phones in history teaching. First, we examine the potentials mobile devices (mobile phones and tablets) provide for teaching and learning, as well as the new area that is currently being developed, that of mobile learning. Second, we talk specifically about the potentials of mobile tools for history teaching, with specific reference to types of mobile applications with historical content. We also discuss places of memory as a new field of development of historical thinking and will relate them to both the advancement of public history and mobile learning. Last, we see how we can create applications of augmented reality through mobile devices and analyze the challenges and opportunities augmented reality creates in the process of historical thinking development.
