Introduction to the textbook Gender, Youth and Politics
Authors: Pantelidou Maloutas, Maro
Description:
Abstract:
Chapter 1 is an introduction to the material, as well as a presentation of the course content and the objectives of the textbook. Questions will be asked, and preliminary answers will be given on why the relationship implied in the title is of interest, how age and, above all, gender affect political participation, but also whether the observed changes in the politics of young people in recent years highlight gender differentiations. There will also be references to female political identities, whether gender norms of politics converge in youth today, and whether there are gender disruptions that disprove established assumptions of Political Science. Also, central hypotheses on the relationship between youth, gender and politics will be recorded, to which the study will return through empirical testing and the relevant discussion that will take place in the following chapters, while the contemporary importance of the topic will be highlighted.
