Description:
Abstract:
This chapter describes the main characteristics of Digital Storytelling approach and its conceptual definition. Then, the possible ways of using Digital Storytelling in the educational process are described, categorized according to the type of teaching intervention, the teaching objectives, the overall structure of the intervention and the time context of using a digital story. Examples from research that have been conducted are used to highlight these categories. Digital story is treated in this case as a work of art and studied with an artistic approach than can be created by the teacher, who needs to know narrative structures, structural element design strategies and techniques of visual and audio investment of their story to enhance its dynamic features (like meaning transfer, emotional identification, semiotic features). In addition, the chapter presents how a digital story can be created by the students, a case that can also be considered as a purely artistic activity that teachers need to be able to support it.
