Description:
Abstract:
Following a broader cultural perspective, Chapter 8 examines the concept of “localization” and the ways in which it is disrupted and/or readjusted with reference to present-day musical performances. Danielle Fosler-Lussier highlights the ambiguity, confusion, and decontextualization that characterize contemporary music and dance practices, while at the same time tackling questions of authenticity, colonialism, and globalization in relation to the new, emerging subjectivities of international artistic expression.
